Middle Ground
We want to be the people powered utility that reigns in extreme partisan politics. This will require a balance of all political views to keep our party centered. Such a utility must focus on accomplishing as many stand alone bipartisan projects and programs as possible. We cannot allow hot topic issues to draw us into their endless partisan strife. Sometimes it is necessary to set aside your differences to reform a back logged justice system or repair a failing infrastructure. If conservatism or liberalism is the theme of your home then make Citizens' Demands your workshop and prove we we can come together to keep our home sturdy and in good repair.
Income Credit Expansion
If a citizen pays income tax they should be allowed to borrow those funds when they need it most. All Americans showing an income for 24 consecutive months should qualify for a government backed debt consolidation loan paid back by sliding scale loan payments never to exceed 10% of the citizen's wage. The program would pay back creditors. This is contrary to the current bankruptcy alternatives whereas everyone loses. This will place many working Americans within credit reach of home ownership. For others it provides the student loan or medical debt relief they've long needed. This program should pay for itself with the interest and boost the economy by paying old debt off to creditors across our nation. Success starts in the home. We must provide our workforce with the credit needed to secure their home finances. If we want our nation to be a global competitor, It is important that we invest in self sufficient programs that build a strong and confident work force. Best of all we would be providing an easier path to home ownership. This gives working Americans a home worth working and fighting for.
America The Beautiful
Whether you believe climate change is an imminent danger or you don't, we can all agree that we would like to see less trash in our local natural spaces. Global strategies have failed our planet. I propose a more localized strategy of national beautification.
Natural restoration is a plan to restore natural spaces by cleaning up all human imprints as best we can. Some projects include natural highway crossings to help herds return to the plains. This would provide funding that improves local forests for hunting and rivers for fishing across the nation so that the benefits are enjoyed by every community.
Cleaning up our communities is useless if we don't provide incentives to prevent the behavior that trashed the place to begin with. We must build a system that collects the waste before it pollutes our landscape.
Homeland Defense
The defense of our nation requires a updated power grid and communication networks. The placing of military facilities and underground rail systems along our borders with frequent personnel and drone patrols from one facility to another will ensure control over what threats enter our borders. The underground rail systems would have power, communication, and water utilities ran throughout them. They would be nuclear shelters with emergency supplies stocked inside of them. This will allow our soldiers and emergency personnel to move supplies to citizens in need during emergencies very quickly. The patrols will secure the borders and train soldiers to provide rescue services to the most remote places including islands and mountains throughout our nation. Coal will be mined and stored for emergency use generators kept on hand and operational. The oil reserves in western Texas long thought too expensive to drill for to profit from will be tapped using the defense budget as a military necessity. The United States military will use this oil alone. With the military no longer buying petroleum from the global supply the lower demand will drive prices down for citizens. Our nation must be required to spend a specified amount of the defense budget on the equipment and training that keeps soldiers alive as well as the facilities to protect their families at home.
Education
Bonuses along with paid tuition for teachers that sign 5 year contracts to teach online or in person classes must be implemented if we want to keep up with the world in education.
Justice
Our public defenders need reinforcements. This is a problem that cannot be ignored for any longer. Paid tuition programs for lawyers that provide public defender services is the most obvious solution to this back log of injustices.
